Founder, 7Webs

Why 7Webs exists

Tanay Deo is a software engineer and product engineer. He started 7Webs after years of building products for clients directly, and seeing the same thing go wrong on project after project.

A business would arrive with a list of features. Somewhere behind the list was a real problem: a client they could not serve, a process that did not scale, a system that had stopped keeping up. The features got built. The problem often stayed where it was.

7Webs is set up to work the other way round. We start from the technical problem, decide what actually needs building, and then build it properly. Sometimes that is a whole product. Sometimes it is one integration, or a recommendation to change very little.

7Webs is built to work well with agencies. They have the client relationships and the design skill, and they need an engineering team they can rely on without employing one. That arrangement suits how we like to work: quietly, behind the scenes, judged on what ships.

How we approach engineering

Understand the problem before estimating it

A quote given before the problem is understood is a guess. We ask more questions up front than most, and the estimate is better for it.

Say what we would not do

If a rewrite is unnecessary, AI is the wrong tool, or we are the wrong team, you will hear it from us before you spend anything.

Write it down

Scope, decisions, trade-offs and handover notes are written. Clients change teams; documentation is what survives.

Build for the next developer

Software outlives the engagement that created it. We write code that another competent engineer can pick up without us.

You own everything

Code, infrastructure and accounts are yours from the first day. Nothing is held on our side to keep you with us.

How clients work with us

Fixed-scope project

A defined build with a written scope, timeline and price. Suits products, integrations and automation with clear edges.

Ongoing engineering

A monthly arrangement for continuing development and maintenance. Suits live products and agencies with a steady flow of work.

White-label partnership

We work behind an agency’s brand, across as many client projects as needed.

For agencies

Every engagement follows the same five steps

  1. Step 1

    Understand

We start with the problem, the users and the systems already in place. No estimate before we know what we are estimating.

  2. Step 2

    Scope

You get a written scope: what will be built, how, in what order, and what it will cost. Risks and unknowns are listed, not hidden.

  3. Step 3

    Build

Work ships in short cycles to a staging environment you can open. You see progress in running software, not status reports.

  4. Step 4

    Launch

We handle deployment, monitoring and the handover documentation, and stay close through the first weeks in production.

  5. Step 5

    Improve

After launch we keep going where it makes sense: new features, performance work, and fixes on an agreed cadence.
